This tool converts Egyptian hieroglyphs to transliteration. The hieroglyphs have to be encoded in Unicode. Please check the guidelines Recommendations for encoding Egyptian hieroglyphs in Unicode published by ORAEC. Furthermore, the hieroglyphs must be tokenized. In other words, the Egyptian words must be separated by space.

This tool uses an lexicon-based approach, i.e. we have a list of hieroglyphs-transliteration pairs. If this list does not contain a requested string of hieroglyphs, the tool takes the transliteration of the most similar hieroglyphic string. This case is marked by a green transliteration.
